Wednesday 20th June 2018 - had a good first start, then something caused a general recall. Second start not so good.... blew out kite on the reach back to the finish - ouch. Big collision at 0:45 between Crossfire (port tack) and Vrengen (stbd tack).

Bad gybe in the Southern Ocean, just north of the iceberg line. Bermudian Emily Nagel is part of the crew. The forces involved in these wind conditions are enormous. 15 Dec 2017

Hurricane Irma
Sailing Scuttlebutt - Irma strikes Tortola. Thinking about this as I used to work in Tortola for the Moorings. My last catamaran was sunk when we were hiding from Ivan in Grenada (2004).

Tall Ships
Round the Island Race 2009
Brilliant race, I was navigator aboard Marta. This is the yacht near the centre with an angel on her spinnaker. This was an exciting gybing battle to stay in the shallow water as we were all bucking the tide. Note the anchored car ships ahead. This was due to the banking crisis of 2008 and Southampton's berths were all full of ships rafted up, so others spent months lying idle at anchor. Photo: Thierry Martinez.
