ACTIVITY
The Atlantic Explorer cruise in 2019 was to measure the rate of the vertical migration of zooplankton in the water column. This is the largest migration of biomass in the world and has a net effect of acting as a huge carbon pump that moves carbon from the surface layers down to the deep ocean. This forms a part of the global carbon cycle.
